What is Zumba?

 

Zumba is the fitness craze that is sweeping the nation and has become a favorite group exercise class in health clubs throughout the world. Zumba uses a fusion of Latin and international music to create a dynamic, fun, and effective cardio workout. The class is designed to utilize and interval training format, combining various rhythms with movements that tone and sculpt the body .

 

You don't have to know how to dance to do ZUMBA. ZUMBA creates a party-like atmosphere, which is less intimidating for students that are not as coordinated. Students know that they can just go with the flow and enjoy the party! Because of the hot, sexy and explosive Latin and exotic music rhythms that make up ZUMBA, all participants will be motivated to return to a ZUMBA class again and again!

 

The founder of ZUMBA is Alberto “Beto” Perez, who was a street dancer as a little boy in his native Columbia , South America . When he had grown older, he was accepted into the prestigious Maria Sanford Brazilian Dance Academy . After graduation, he became an instructor at the Academy, specializing in Latin Dance. Later, his interest in physical fitness led him to become a certified personal trainer and receive his I.S.A.T. degree. After enormous success in many South American countries, Beto brought his class to the United States . In 2001, Beto and two other entrepreneurs created a global company in Miami , based on Beto's philosophy, and called ZUMBA.

 

Zumba touches the lives of every age, gender, and background. People who have never exercised have joined in the Zumba fun. People who have struggled for years to gain a healthier lifestyle have embraced Zumba. Zumba is not just an exercise class; it is a revolution that has transformed millions of people's lives. Que es Zumba?

 

Zumba es la modalidad del fitness por excelencia, que por estos dias se ha convertido en el entretenimiento favorito de los gimnasios a nivel mundial. Literalmente se traduce en une mixtura de ejercicios fisicos basada en los ritmos que estan de moda. De esta manerea, el secreto de su exito se da en que Zumba combina pasos de baile con movimientos de tonificacion muscular o bodysculpting.

 

Al ser un ejercicio cardiovascular por excelencia, en una sesion de Zumba se combate el estres, se queman calorias (aproximadamente entre 500 y 800 por hora) y se baja de peso. Pero, ademas, por incluir ejercicios de tonificacion en zonas localizadas, los efectos positivos se extienden a la reafirmacion muscular.

Hasta el momento, milliones de personas, en 30 paises del mundo, se han tonificado, perdido peso y hasta an elevado su autoestima con el incomparable metodo de Zumba.

La modalidad fue creada por el colombiano Alberto ”Beto” Perez. El bailarin profesional, coreografo e instructor de aerobicos, diseno un sistema de acondicionamiento en el que integro pasos de bailes populares y los modifico, logrando variantes de ejercicios de tonificacion corporal.

Zumba toca la vida de todo tipo de personas sin discriminar raza, edad, peso, o nacionalidad. Gente que nunca ha hecho ejercicio se ha unido a la diversion de Zumba. Son aquellos que han luchado para estar en forma y sentirse bien, lo han logrado con Zumba.
